A short cist was found when ploughing on Hillhead of Fechil farm in 1913. It contained the inhumations of an adult male (aged 30+) and child (aged possibly c. 5) accompained by a Late Northern/step 6 beaker, pebble, flint flake, and a charred fir cone. The contents of the cist are now in the Anthropological Museum, University of Aberdeen (Accession nos: 14225, 15642).
R W Reid 1924; M E C Mitchell 1934; J Godsman 1958; D L Clarke 1970; I A G Shepherd 1986.
(Location amended to NJ c. 95 29). The exact position of this cist, which was found in 1913, is not recorded; the 6-figure NGR previously quoted refers to the farmsteading of Hillhead of Fechil.
