Archaeology Notes

NJ92NE 13 9527 2805.

According to Mr J Youngson (Cross-stone, Ellon) a stone cist containing human remains was found at NJ 9527 2805, about 1914, when workmen were removing sand and gravel from the top of a knoll, now a rise with a hollow on top in a pasture field. Mr Youngston was present when the dimensions. It was removed and the bones reburied elsewhere.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (RL) 25 August 1970.

The site of this cist is now under arable cultivation.
