(NJ 9405 0636) Manse (NR) (Site of)

OS 1:500 map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1901).

This building was erected as a manse or a residence for the minister of St Nicholas' Church, but the date of erection cannot be satisfactorily ascertained. On the two inner wings is the date 1729 but the body of the house appears to have been erected before that date. It is no longer used as a manse but is let off into several tenements.

Name Book 1895.

On the site now occupied by nos 16-26 School Hill, Aberdeen, was a temple tenement of St John, formerly George Jameson's House.

D MacGibbon and T Ross 1892; The Deeside Field 1957.

Site built upon. No additional information was found to confirm that this was ever a manse, or had any ecclesiastical associations.

Visited by OS (JD) 22 August 1952.

(Additional bibliography cited).

NMRS, MS/712/83.

This house or manse has been demolished and its site redeveloped.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, ATW), 26 February 1997.
