Mount House is situated within its own policies on the W side of Kilmarnock and to the N of Dundonald Road and a railway.
The orginal house was built in 1793 with alterations and additions added over the next 150 years up to the 1930's.
RCAHMS undertook a photographic survey in 2001 in advance of proposed alterations to the house to convert it to a hotel with flats.
