(NJ 8510 6471) Castle (NR) (site of)

OS 6" map, (1959)

A castle, supposedly 16th century,is situated on the bank of a ravine leading to the village of Pennan. Formerly owned by the Bairds of Auchmedden, the only remains now existing are a position of the south wall and a few scattered stones (Ferguson 1913).

Name Book 1870; J Ferguson 1913.

No trace of a castle could be found at the site, which is now under cultivation. No further information could be obtained locally.
