(NJ 8700 5765) Earth House (NR)
OS 6" map, (1959)
A circular wall of earth about 50ft in diameter, and 3ft high known as the "Pict's House" is situated on the farm of Cairnywhing. It was lately enclosed with a stone wall, which is still preserved.
Name Book 1870.
The heavily mutilated remains of a cairn, 13.5m to 14.5m in diameter, prominently situated on a gentle hill, and partly surrounded by a drystone wall of 'cairn-like' rubble. The centre of the cairn has been removed, so that only an irregular turf-covered bank of earth and stones, 0.5m high, remains.
Resurveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (NKB) 16 March 1967.
