Summary Record (1 October 2012 - 31 March 2013)

The Den at Kirriemuir is located to the north of Tannage Brae, close by the town centre. The origins of the park lie in a gift of part of the land by Sydney Wilkie, an Australian originally from Kirriemuir. Further land was acquired from Kinnordy Estate in 1882-1909.

The mill race from the town's Meikle Mill ran to the Gairie Burn through what is now The Den until the mid-20th century.

In earlier years, part of the floor of The Den was flooded to allow skating in the winter.

Researched and visited by the Garden History Society in Scotland (Angus Landscape Survey Group) March, 2013
