In 1698, on a knoll to the west of the farm of Westfield, there was a cairn beside the stone which marked the boundary of the Freedom Lands of Aberdeen (NJ80NE 3). The stone was replaced after 1790 and probably again after the 1821 riding. The present stone bears the legend 'ABD 21'.

This granite boundary stone is situated in a cultivated field about 90m SW of Westfield Cottage. Rectangular in section, it measures 0.29m in breadth by 0.17m in thickness and 0.7m in height. The top of the N face is bevelled and bears the incised letters ABD below the number 21. Nothing is visible of the cairn that once stood adjacent to the marker.
