The Dundee, Parker Square drill hall was built in 1906 (designed by C & L Owen) to replace an earlier drill hall that had burnt down. The earlier and later drill halls seem to occupy the same footprint, as mapped on the 2nd edition (1903) and 3rd edition (1922) OS 1:2500 maps, with the New Cemetery to the east and the prison and Sheriff Court complex to the SW.
The building has been demolished.
The Dundee Directory of 1911-12 lists the units based at the drill hall: 4th (City of Dundee) Black Watch; a detachment of 5th (Angus & Dundee) battalion Black Watch; HQ Fife & Forfar Yeomanry; No. 4 Company Highland Division Army Service Corps; 3rd Company, North Scottish Royal Garrison Artillery; and the HQ of the local Territorial Army organisation.
According to the regimental history, In the First World War the drill hall was the base for the 1/4th battalion Black Watch.
It is possible that mention of a drill hall for artillery volunteers at "Albany Quarters, Bell Street" refers to accommodation within the Parker Square hall ( Dundee Directory).
