Field Visit (19 June 1996)

NN02NW 38 01627 26531

The footings of a small building, probably an illicit still, are tucked away amongst a clump of birch trees at the base of a steep-sided gully draining into the S side of Glen Nant. The building measures 4.2m from NNW to SSE by 2.3m transversely within coursed rubble footings 0.8m in thickness and up to 0.8m in height. There is a gap in the NNW end, which may be the entrance, and a small circular structure at the SSE end of the interior. The watercourse runs along the ENE side of the building; the discrete location and ready supply of water suggest that it may have been a still.
