Archaeology Notes

NJ72NE 41 c. 79 25.

There are 4 flint knives; 5 parallel-sided flint blades; 4 flint scrapers and 4 core trimmings in Inverurie Museum. All from Bourtie (NJ 79 25).

(Undated) information from Accession Register, Inverurie Museum.

(Classification amended to : Flint Implements; Flint Knives; Flint Blades; Flint Scrapers; Flint Cores). The Ordnance Survey noted a variety of material from Bourtie in Inverurie Museum. The Inverurie collection is now largely in store at Aberdeen Heritage's main office in Peterhead. The following items from Bourtie were noted there on the date of visit.

PEHMS: I 4739. Collection of assorted flint tools including blades and scrapers.

PEHMS: I 4740. Box of assorted flint tools including knives and scrapers.

PEHMS: I 4740/ 11, 26. Flint blades.

PEHMS: I 4740/ 2. Flint knife.

PEHMS: I 4740/ 4-7, 9, 14, 16, 18-21, 23-5. Flint flakes and blades.

In addition there is a flint core from Bourtie in Marischal Museum, Aberdeen (ABDUA: 14617). It measures 29mm in length by 20mm in width.
