Archaeology Notes

NJ71NW 6 7228 1501.

(NJ 7228 1501). Part of a beaker, 3 3/8" (86mm) across the base, found in a gravelly mound in the angle where the road to Castle Fraser branches off the main Deeside turnpike road just W of Kemnay was donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) by W D Simpson.

The findspot of this fragment of Beaker is a featureless grass-grown glacial mound of gravel and sand.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 4 December 1997.

Contrary to the account above, the PSAS article specifies that the Beaker was exhibited to the Society and not donated to the Museum.
