Archaeology Notes

NH65SE 44.01 66700 54903.

This is an early 20th-century farmstead that may be of more than one build. It has an extended T-shaped plan. The central gabled wing is flanked by two stone covered yards under wide, curved Belfast roofs, creating an impressive facade. The architectural detailing includes sliding doors and cast-iron windows and there are stable fittings such as a medicine cupboard and unusual harness pegs. An original weighing machine is in the yard. To the SW is a separate covered shed with a wide Belfast roof and part of the original cobbled floor. To the NE is a silage tower. Other adjacent buildings include one with a timber roof. The farmhouse lies to the N (NH65SE 44.00).

Information from RCAHMS (SS) 23 January 2006.
