Low single-storey and attic with wooden dormers, old coped chimneys. (Historic Environment Scotland List Entry)

The 1st edition OS (1;2;500 series) map features a property annotated due South of the cottages, Brick Lodge, with Commerce Street effectively terminating at Lodge Walk. By the 2nd edition map Commerce Street has been lengthened to junction with another newly laid-out road, Charlotte Street, creating the triangular shaped block the cottages remain sited within. Walker & Woodworth suggest the cottages may be the oldest buildings to remain within Fraserburgh's old town.
