(NJ 7790 1915) Urn containing ashes found AD 1858 (NAT)

In 1858 an urn containing ashes was found in a small sand knoll a short distance south from the standing stone (NJ71NE 9).

Name Book 1867.

This site is in the garden of Broomend and there is no sign of a small sand knoll.

Visited by OS (RD) 10 March 1964.

(Name cited as Broomend).

NMRS, MS/712/67.

The small knoll in which an urn was found 1858 has been removed and its site now lies within a garden; the type of urn and its present whereabouts are also unknown.
