The war memorial on the W side of Turnberry Airfield (NS20NW 33.00) was erected to commemorate the casualties from the First World War School of Aerial Gunnery (later School of Aerial Fighting and Gunnery). The memorial lists all the names of those lost between 1917 and 1918.
