Westfield Avenue - Valentine's Factory

Architect: Major Thomas Martin Cappon 1904

Now demolished.

Valentine's also had offices at 152-154 Perth Road / 172 Perth Road.

The building previously on this site was Westfield Factory (Hessians). The 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Forfarshire, 1865, sheet) depicts the factory and the Object Name Book of the Ordnance Survey describes it a 'a small factory in which are employed between 30 & 40 hands at the weaving of common sheetings. The weaving is carried on by power looms, driven entirely by steam. Peter McGregor is the manager, and proprietor Peter Balfour'. (ONB 1863)
