An ornamental urn, found in 1867 whilst digging for sand, is in the possession of Forbes Little-john of Carnieston (Ordnance Survey Name book (ONB, 1867).

Name Book 1867.

Jervise (1875-9) describes a stone cist containing bones and urn found on Greenlaw in 1867. The urn, 4 1/2" (114mm) wide, bore the 'usual zig-zag markings'.

No further information.

Visited by OS (NKB) 13 March 1969.

In 1867 a cist was discovered in a sand pit in what is now cultivated ground 190m N of Greenlaw farmsteading (NJ63SW 89). The present whereabouts of an 'urn', which was found inside the cist, is not known. The sand pit is no longer visible.
