NJ 688 044. Two possible hut circles, discovered during aerial reconnaissance.

(Location cited as NJ 6878 0439). Hill of Fare; Howe of Lythebauds. Air photography (AAS/79/1/S1/22) has recorded what may be two contiguous hut-circles under snow. They lie on a moderate SE-facing slope in an area of moorland and dry heath at an altitude of 385m OD.
NMRS, MS/712/55.
No trace of any hut-circles were found in this area, which is extremely wet underfoot and blanketed by thick heather. The natural topography is characterised by amorphous, shallow hollows and it is likely that it is these that have been misinterpreted from aerial photographs.
