Archaeological Evaluation (26 July 2017)

NO 69713 55940 A 7% evaluation was undertaken, on 26 July 2017, in advance of construction of two houses at the site of the former Rossie Castle. The excavation of 135 linear metres of trenches revealed brick and sandstone foundation walls overlain in places by a large amount of demolition rubble. These represent the remains of a building likely to be, or associated with, the early 19th-century Rossie Castle.
