Archaeology Notes

NJ56SE 3 555 638.

There is a large, undressed stone bearing many cup-marks in Fordyce church-yard (NJ56SE 1). It was brought from Morayshire.

Anon 1884.

There is a table-stone in Fordyce church-yard, the upper surface of which is covered with cup-marks.

F R Coles 1906

Since the stone in Anon (1884) is described as undressed, and that in Coles (1906) is a table-stone, there would appear to be possibly two cup-marked stones in Fordyce church-yard.

Neither stone could be located in Fordyce church yard.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 22 September 1961.
