(NJ 5507 4270) St Mungo's Well (NR)

St Mungo's Well is a very old well, the water of which was regarded as medicinal.

Name Book 1871.

The well, a spring, is situated in dense woodland, and lies at the foot of a short narrow cleft in the steep north westerly slopes of the Hill of Mungo. It is a small, shallow pool and is the source of a stream which flows in a westerly direction.

Visited by OS (EGC) 20 September 1961.
