Archaeology Notes

ND39NE 15 c. 3686 9578

A barrage balloon mooring site has been identified from oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1997) about 100m to the N of the 'Z' battery (ND39NE 2). It is situated immediately S of the track which leads to Roan Head and consists of at least two concentric rings of concrete mooring blocks, with a centrally positioned main mooring pad. A circular platform some 60m to the SW may possibly be a second mooring site.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), November 1997.
