Activities

Field Visit (2010)

This powerhouse uses water from the three associated storage dams to generate power through two Gilkes turbines. The power station has an open timber roof and tiled floor. The original roller crane is also still extant. A small transformer station is located to the rear where the station is connected to the national grid. The station was initially constructed to meet the demands of the local community but is now part of the national supply network. There is some later alteration to the interior forming offices and a later glazing. This is a standard example of a smaller power station with some later alteration including out of character later alterations to the glazing. PL Payne, 1988, 5; E Wood, 2002, 38; J Miller, 2002.
