Archaeology Notes

(Location cited as NJ 409 515). Crooks Mill, built 1895, mason William Stewart. A three-storey rubble building on an L-plan, with a kiln at the end of one of the arms. A six-spoke all-iron wheel 5ft 1in (1.55m) wide by 12 ft (3.66m) diameter has been out of use for many years, but the three pairs of 4 ft (1.22m) diameter stones, belt-driven, are still regularlu used, as is the kiln.

J R Hume 1977.
