Centre for Sensorily Deprived, 47 Anderson Street, 1853, Charles Wilson

Built as Partick Police Court. Crisp stone details in Wilson's formal classical style. The least expensive option, chosen by the parsimonious first Police Commissioners, determined to keep down the rates. Fussier first floor added 1873, John Smellie, builder and part-time Burgh Surveyor. The slick new materials of extension, 2000, Glasgow City Council, sit well alongside.
