Ardkenneth Church, (RC), 1829

Long, rectangular church, with priest's house incorporated into the eastern end in 1878. The church is as plain as could be, with three tall, round-arched windows lighting its coved nave. It has a triple-arched chancel screen on bulbous columns and a pulpit transferred here from the old Pro-Cathedral in Oban in the 1930s. The church dominates the flat machair from its rubble-walled enclosure, its stark dignity echoed in the adjacent statue of Our Lady of the Isles by Hew Lorimer, 1956, the larger and better known version of which stands on Rueval.
