A cotton spinning and cloth weaving complex built c.1835 for Ferguson & Co, it comprises a three-storeyed and attic tweleve-bay red-brick block with corner towers to the rear. A second two-storeyed building fronting onto the street was built in 1883 for William Tait & Co (wholesale stationers), and comprises an eleven-bay brick-built block with low-relief arches surrounding rectangular first-floor windows. At the time of survey in 2001, the buildings were disused and faced an uncertain future.
