A single storey building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1879, sheet xciv) and is described in the Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB), 1879 as a 'one storied slated house, used as a shooting lodge and has suitable office houses attached to it. About 20 chains south-east is situated the Shepherds house also slated and one storey in height. The whole of these objects are in a good state of repair and are the property of Sir James Mathieson Bart., Stornoway, Lewis.

This building is shown as roofed on the current OS 1:10000 scale map (1972) within an enclosure which is also depcietd on the 1st edition of the OS map.
