North Beach The best survival of Stornoway's traditional water front, although the shoreline has changed with land reclamation, and modern single-storey harbour buildings are a dreary replacement for quays once lined with fishing boats and jostling with barrels, fish sellers, and herring gutters. The road runs over the site of Stornoway's first parish church, St. Lennan's, built by the first Earl of Seaforth in 1633 .
