Dunalastair Dam is located some 20km west of Pitlochry. It acts 'as a head pond and diversion weir on the River Tummel' to divert water into the Dunalastair/Tummel Aqueduct. This 'contour headrace' or lade leads to Tummel Bridge hydroelectric power station. The dam dates fom 1933 and is made of concrete and is 11m in height and 88m in length. It has two hoist operated vertical gates (7.6m square), a gravity overflow spillway (21.7m in length), 3 bays with footbridge, steel line gravity syphons (four), twin intake gates to the 4KM aqueduct, a fish ladder and various walls.
