NS25SE 25 2885 5280

Two unroofed buildings each annotated Ruin, one of which is adjacent to a Pit which may be the workings of the Old Copper Mine marked on Carwinning Hill, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ayrshire 1858, sheet vii), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992).

(Location cited as NS282 539) Carswinning Copper Mine: This mine is 3 miles NNW of Dalry and was strated by Welsh Miners before 1890.

The Carswinning Copper Mine is named and depicted as 'Old Mine (Copper)' on the 2nd edition of the Ordnance Survey 25-inch map (Ayrshire, 1897).
