OS 6" map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1902)
The 'Eirde House' at Migvie was discovered during the demolition of a lime kiln in July 1862. It occupies the summit of a gravelly hillock and measured about 41ft in overall length by about 5ft in maximum height. Its width varied from about 1ft 10ins upwards. The walls are of coursed dry-stone masonry. With the exception of ten slabs, the roof has been replaced by fir planks, the walls made up to about 6ft in height and a door fitted. Finds included a bronze ring, stone cups (one of which is at Finzean), bits of corroded iron or metal etc. (A Jervise 1865)
