Archaeology Notes

NJ31SE 22 c. 38 12.

Thre is a Group XXIV stone axe 'from Deskryside, Donside' in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS, Accession no: AF 1009). (The junction of the Deskry Water with the River Don is at NJ 386 124; although there are numerous 'Deskry -' farm names along the course of the former, none is named 'Deskryside'.)

This axe has been petrologically attrributed to group XXIV, which comprises objects of calc-silicate hornfels from the axe-factory at Creag na Caillich, Killin (NN53NE 1).
