Archaeology Notes

NS76SE 46 79580 64870

(Location cited as NS790 067) Formerly Moffat Paper Mills and converted to a distillery in 1965. Originally known as Garnheath Distillery, it was owned by Inver House Distillers Ltd (of Publicker Industries Ltd of Philadelphia, PA, USA). It had five stills producing neutral and grain whisky and had a dark grains plant and more than 32 warehouses. The large saladin maltings (The Moffat Maltings - largest in Europe) were transferred to Associated Malt Distillers Ltd in 1978. Glen Flagler Lowland Malt Distilery (NS76SE 86) is located within the complex (closed 1985).
