This intermediate station on the Perth (Hilton Junction) - Kinross- Cowdenbeath (North Junction) line of the former North British Rly was opened by that company on 2 June 1890. It closed to regular passenger traffic on 15 June 1964, the line itself remaining open until 5 January 1970.
