Archaeology Notes

HY21NW 12.01 231 187

A rune stone was found in 1982 by Mr J Drever of the Ancient Monuments Division work squad. It had been used face down as a paving slab for 19 years. It is thought likely that it weathered out of the site in 1963 rather than being brought to it. It bears 3 twig runes reading IBA if cryptic of IUA; and 3 poorly formed futhark of which the first and last read R. The stone has been taken to safe keeping pending disposal to a permanent home.

P J Ashmore 1983.
