Bonded warehouse, Kilmarnock, Strand Street.

[Location cited as NS428 381], late 19th century [Gabriel Andrew, 1897]...in french Renaissance style...particularly fine , 4-storey block, with a rounded end and frontages to 2 streets [Strand Street and Croft Street].

This building is timber-framed with square-section timber columns (fireproofed) first and second floor. Original wooden floor survives.

Watching Brief (11 February 2009 - 21 July 2009)

NS 4276 3802 A watching brief was carried out 11 February–21 July 2009 during the excavation of lift shafts in the former bonded warehouse. The work exposed the foundations of the late 19th-century warehouse but nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
