This large drill hall is in two main parts, separated by an access to the outbuildings and courtyard behind. The earlier part (NO04SW 141) is a two-storey, three-bay early Victorian house with a small hall behind. To the west (see NO04SW 97) there is an adjacent large E-shaped, two-storey, 6-windowed block with sandstone dressings and a coloured badge, dated 1900, of the Scottish Horse, over the door. Another hall is contained within its wings. There is a large court to the rear with garages, gun-sheds and an indoor range.
The buildings are not labelled on the 2nd edition OS 1:2500 map. In 1914 the hall was the HQ and base of "B" Squadron of the 1st Scottish Horse. In 1940 it was the base for 79th and 80th Medium Regiments, Royal Artillery, which were formed from the Scottish Horse.
The building survives and is in use as a cadet and training centre.
