The name New Seat is applied to a group of three buildings forming a 'U' open to the SE, with two enclosures, depicted at this location on the 1797 Leith Hall Plan of Sleepy Kirk and Temple (E 33904 and E 33905 CN). On the plan of Old Leslie (E 33909 and E 33910 CN) the infield is also shown, with the annotation 'Newseat or Thief's Croft good soil Geo Nicoll'.
