The footings of at least thirteen shieling huts are disposed in four loose groups on grass and bracken-grown terraces beside the Annettshiel Sike (NY 4590 8877, NY 4608 8888, NY 4588 8886, NY 4598 8892). The huts are subrectangular on plan and measure between 3.6m by 2.3m (LID96 140) and 7.4m by 2.6m (LID96 137) internally. The footings of eight of the huts (LID96 137-44) are of turf and the remaining five (LID96 145-8) are of stone. Except for one hut (LID96 144), which lies along the contour, the huts lie across the slight slope on axes from NE to SW or NNE to SSW. Where an entrance is visible (LID96 137-8, 140-1, 143-8) it lies in a side wall. An outshot measuring 1.8m by 2.3m internally extends from the side wall of one hut (LID96 146).
