The stones of the castle of Inverugie were cleared when the Clashach Quarries were leased c. 1824.

Traces of the foundations of the old castle of Inverugie are still to be seen.

No traces of this castle remain. The site, on a rocky promontory, has been mutilated by trenches, etc., from World War II.
