(HY 2800 1878) Chapel & Burial Ground {NR} (site of)

O.S.6"map, Orkney, 2nd ed.,(1903).

The site of the chapel and burial ground is marked by a fenced square enclosure, almost a quarter acre in extent, in the middle of a cultivated field, about 240 yds NW of Kirkness farmhouse.

RCAHMS 1946.

There is no trace of a chapel or burial ground at the published site, which is on a low hillock. The fence has been removed and the area has been incorporated in a pasture field.

Visited by OS(RL) 15 May 1967.

Orkney Smr Note

Said to be where a place of worship was, the site still

retains a visible appearance of some large building. It is

supposed there was a burial ground attached. Site of Chapel and

Burial Ground. [R1]
