Activities

Watching Brief (March 2010)

NT 92004 67285 A watching brief was carried out in March 2010 during the excavation of machine dug test pits and hand dug inspection pits in the Vennel area of St Abbs. This work formed part of a pre-application assessment relating to the possible construction of a marine research station. The work indicated that a cobbled surface is likely to cover much of the Vennel area, from the rough track southwards. No evidence of archaeologically significant deposits was recorded beneath the cobbled surface or made ground in any of the areas examined.
