Archaeology Notes

NN95SW 71 9455 5205

The intermediate station (in reality only a timber-built halt) on the Ballinluig - Aberfeldy branch of the former Highland Railway was opened on 2 December 1935 by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, the line itself having been opened in 1865. It is omitted from the relevant map in the British Railways Atlas of 1947, but is said by Butt to have remained open until the closure of the entire line on 3 May 1965. The current (1992) edition of the O.S. 1:10 000 map does not indicate either the station buildings or the cutting in which they were situated, and which has been infilled.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM) 28 April 2000.
