] Daldowie Dovecote, Hamilton Road, c.1745

Immense rubble and ashlar cylinder, keystoned flat lintel to doorway. Flight holes to nesting boxes below eaves, above a continuous string course, with slated bellcast roof over. Surrounded by sewage works, neglected and vandalised, it was relocated 1 kilometre (0.5 mile) north and restored, including an internal timber revolving ladder access system, 1999, Design Practice, for Paterson's of Greenoakhill Ltd and partly funded by the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme.

Glasgow, Daldowie Dovecot. All that remains of the estate attached to Daldowie House.

Also known as Daldowie Mansion.

The dovecot is a Grade A listed building, originally serving Daldowie Estate, c.1650. Now located in a sewage works, it is in the process of being dismantled and relocated one mile to the north by Design Practice. To be fitted out with stone nesting boxes and a rotating spindle.
