OS 6" map, Morayshire, 2nd ed., (1906)
A charter dated 1203 - 1222 AD. three times states that the Church of Kyntra or Kyntrae (NJ 17 65) is old and mentions the road which goes down to it. The parson of Kintrae was witness to a deed between 1187 and 1203. Nothing remains of the Church and Churchyard but the site of the latter is still traceable in the centre of a field on the south west (SE) corner of Westfield.
L Shaw 1882.
No feature was seen on the ground that could be identified with the marks on the air photographs.
The field was ploughed at the time of investigation and a very thin scattering of rubble was noted in the area of the Chapel siting symbol. In the area centred NJ 1688 6517, that is about 20.0 metres NE of the site of the chapel, a number of human bones including fragments of a skull were found in the soil.
Visited by OS (RDL), 3 December 1962.
