OS 6" map, (1938)

Ogston Market Cross is probably ecclesiastical. There are no steps. The pedestal is 2 feet square, 14 inches deep and so chamfered for nearly half this depth as to contract the top to 17 inches square. The shaft and capital are one; the shaft is oblong 9ins by 6ins with splayed corners; on the east side is a hole above which is a hammer-shaped mark; on the west side are two crosses; the capital has a rectangular hole through it 3ins x 4ins. The overall height is 8ft 2ins. It is situated in the churchyard (NJ16NE 16.00).
