(NJ 1906 4327) Chapel (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map, Morayshire, 2nd ed., (1900)

The site of a traditionally pre-reformation chapel about which nothing is known. The remaining stones of the foundation were removed a few years before 1870.

(A cancelled note in the Name Book says the hill was named 'Chapel Hill')

Name Book 1870.

No trace of this alleged chapel. Its topographical position on a hill with a fine view, and the fact that several cairns in the district are locally thought to be chapels, strongly suggests that this was a cairn.

Visited by OS (A A) 4 March 1971.
