Activities

Photographic Survey (27 December 1955)

Photographic survey of buildings in Stirling by the Ministry of Works in 1955.

Publication Account (1978)

The Spittal's Hospital which was founded by Robert Spittal, tailor to James IV, in 1530 continued after the Reformation presumably with the Town Council as patrons who note in 1738 that the hospital building 'which lately fell down' was in need of repair (Cowan, 1976, 193). Its original location is not known, although it does appear to have eventually found a base in the Greyfriars Yard (Cant, 1948, 14).

Information from Scottish Burgh Survey, ‘Historic Stirling: The Archaeological Implications of Development’, (1978).
